Outrage in Europe After Israeli Minister Calls Flotilla Activists “Terrorists”

3 min readOct 4, 2025

Streets fill, governments scramble, words that should never have been said

He said it on camera. Standing in the Nakab desert camp, Israel’s National Security Minister pointed at the Global Sumud Flotilla activists and called them “terrorists.” Not once. Not slipped in by accident. He repeated it — “flotilla terrorists.”

That single word, spat out in the dust of the desert, traveled fast. And Europe reacted like a continent slapped.

Words That Burned

The clip was brutal in its bluntness. “Like terrorists for all intents and purposes,” he said, insisting they backed murderers. And behind him, people in plastic chairs, exhausted, handcuffed, still managed to shout back: Free Palestine. End the blockade.

If you’ve ever been near a protest, you know that chant. It rises from the gut. And in this moment, it wasn’t just defiance — it was survival.

Greece lodged a formal protest. The International Federation of Journalists said they were “particularly outraged,” reminding everyone that journalists were inside those fences too. The video didn’t just show rhetoric. It showed a government smearing citizens of other nations as criminals.
