Okay, the news coming out of Lahore today is well, it’s deeply concerning. We’re all seeing these reports of violent clashes and you can feel that tension spreading. I know here in Karach people are worried.

We’re all asking the same thing. So, let’s try to break this down. We’re going to look at what actually happened, who the key players are, and what this all says about the really fine line between the right to protest and public order in Pakistan. So, the big question on everyone’s mind is how did we get here?

How does a planned march turn turn into this this deadly violence. To understand that, we’ve got to look at the chain of events. I mean, when you see headlines using words like arson, clashes, chaos, you know this was serious. This wasn’t just some small protest that got out of hand. It was a massive confrontation that paralyzed parts of L’ore. Before we get into the politics and the why, it’s absolutely crucial that we stop and acknowledge the human cost.

Let’s just start with a numbers because they are grim. Five people lost their lives and that includes a police officer, three of the protesters, and a civilian…
