Why cannot German government offer subsidies to EV makers like Chinese government?

You all know that G7 has imposed tariff on the Chinese electric vehicles . This decision of G7 has affected European Union badly because it made China very angry.

Now the Germany vice chancellor is going China to calm the Chinese.

Germany feels that this will start a trade.

Statements coming out of German is ludicrous. The German Economy ministers that 31.8 per cent tariff is not a punishment. It is a punishment in my opinion.

The European Union commission says that Chinese companies are benefiting from subsidies given by the Chinese Government.

It is very stupid excuse. Why cannot European government offer similar subsidies to their car manufacturers?

I do not why European Union has imposed duty on electronic cars.

How many Europeans can afford to buy these cars?

I was in Munich between June 11 and June 29 . German market is flooded with Chinese products.

Why have not German government imposed duty of these products if it cares about German businesses?

It means the case of EVs is just a geopolitical gimmick.
